Become data fluent.
At a time when we trust fewer entities to watch our backs and we can become crippled by indecision, data fluency can help us find and activate opportunity narratives. In an effort to promote data fluency in my work, I have:
Developed accessible workshops to improve awareness and build skills.
Encouraged clients to evaluate data collection practices and coached them on how to signal transparency and consider unintended consequences in project development.
Forged new partnerships with data scientists to help explore potential bias in aggregated data sets.
Explored evaluation alternatives, moving toward impact-based metrics wherever possible.
